Adoption Respite

Parents who have adopted at least one child through DCFS or another state agency quality for this service. A Respite Provider is trained in the special needs that come along with adoption. They understand each child has unique and special needs and the common issues of adjustment and attachment that come with adoption. They have experience with children and can deal with them professionally.

The Family Support Center’s Adoption Respite Program is committed to helping families find time for themselves and each other. To be the best parent you can be, it is important to have a priority of taking time to get your own needs met.

Respite Providers bring fun games and activities and take time to build relationships with your children. Twice a month, Date Night is offered. Date Night is respite where you bring your children to the Family Support Center’s Midvale Crisis Nursery. A reservation must be made by 5:00 p.m. the evening before Date Night. It is a first come, first serve arrangement, so families are advised to call early to see if they can be scheduled in.
