Good Things Come in Threes

Woodside Homes and HomeAid Utah partner with the Family Support Center’s LifeStart Village to renovate three units for single-parent families ready to move in.

The Family Support Center’s LifeStart Village, a self-sufficiency housing program for single-parent families, has been a member of the Utah community for 18 years. Woodside Homes, introduced to the Family Support Center by HomeAid Utah, heard about their need to renovate units in order to help families start their journey at LifeStart. After a tour of the property, Woodside Homes decided to renovate not one, but all three units in desperate need of repair.

In under three weeks, the team from Woodside Homes and their partners, Interior Logic Group, Lighting Design, and Builders FirstSource, completed the unit renovations, creating a fresh, welcoming home for three new families at LifeStart Village. The renovations—which included wall repair, flooring, paint, new light fixtures, and other necessary updates—  will impact the lives of many families to come. Because of this partnership, these families will now have a safe and beautiful space where together they can heal, strengthen, and work towards a brighter future.

This event celebrates not only the completion of the three units and the families they will become home for but also celebrates the impact of businesses coming together to give back to our community. Attending are representatives from the Family Support Center, Woodside Homes, HomeAid Utah, Mayor Hale of Midvale City, and the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Many of the families entering the LifeStart Village program have experienced domestic violence, substance use, and or homlessness. No matter a family’s background, LifeStart Village offers a fresh start for single-parent families: providing a strong network of support, career development, improved financial health, and space to heal from past trauma and rebuild family relationships.

At LifeStart Village, 86% of clients who stayed with the program for more than a month stayed out of homelessness, moving into permanent, stable housing. Because of the support found at LifeStart Village, many past residents continue to utilize the services available at the Family Support Center to ensure their family’s continued growth and progress. The Family Support Center is proud to be a constant and continuous presence in the lives of families in our community.

LifeStart has been seriously the greatest thing that has happened in my recovery. It allowed me a chance to get my kids back and give them a stable place to live. They have supported me in so many ways, such as getting my high school diploma, helping me get into college, staying at my job, working really hard working on my recovery. The staff here is always challenging me to do better. I love this program! I am so grateful for everything LifeStart has done for me and my kids. I don’t know where I would be without this program!” - LifeStart Village Resident

Thank you to our incredible partners who help make our program possible.
